“Paragraphs” is released in two limited editions, a digipak version, limited to 50 copies and a handmade edition, limited to 20 copies. Both editions come with artwork by Genoveva Kachurkova.
Emba is a collaborative project between Tim Diagram, UK and Mathieu Lamontagne who is based in Quebec, Canada. Over many years they have both released a substantial body of work during their adventures into sound, Lamontagne, recording as Arbee has released music on established labels such as; Unknown Tone Recordings, dataObscura and Ondes Carrées, – to name but a few. Tim Diagram runs the Handstitched* imprint and has been involved in several collaborations, as well as releasing his solo works on many, well-respected labels over the years.
The process of the Emba project took a form of conversation, audio manipulations and processing alongside sound design and live recordings. The output from these experiments were translated into sketches of sound, or Paragraphs of sound as Emba discovered during the project, Lamontagne uses Modular / Eurorack for sound design and sound sculpture and Tim Diagram experimented with the 0-Coast and Moog Mother-32 during the early stages of the project, audio files were sent back and forth over the course of a year. The resulting sound was moulded and processed into ten pieces of varied electronics, each track reflects a feeling of the uncertainty of the present moment that we are currently living in.
Emba approached Genoveva Kachurkova to be a part of the visual design for the packaging, the artwork she had created worked best for the album – “Paragraphs” is visualised in the artwork. Genoveva works from her studio in Skopje in Macedonia, using paints and mixed media - she is an artist with individuality and a unique edge that has caught the attention of art lovers around the world.
Limited edition one: full-colour printed digipak features collage artworks by Handstitched*, front cover art by Genoveva Kachurkova and is released as a limited edition of 50 hand-numbered copies and is sealed in clear bags.
Limited edition two: handmade, gatefold CD covers with original paragraph collage cover designs, each one unique to itself, each CD comes with the cover art by Genoveva printed on art board, track list insert and hand-stamped logo on the inlay tab - all components collated, created, designed and assembled by Handstiched* - limited to 20 copies - individually hand-numbered and packed in glassine bags for safe keeping.
